Frequently asked questions and answers
General
Allmogens began as a non-profit public education project with the aim of preserving and bringing to life our Swedish history and our Nordic cultural heritage. We still have that goal. To fund this work, in 2017 we started selling historical prints in our shop, with a focus on historical maps. The history behind the works, quality and exclusivity are the focus of everything we do. Our office is located in Sidensjö parish in the heart of Ångermanland.
All our historical motifs are carefully selected and scanned from our own collections and other archives in Sweden and Europe. We are continuously expanding our collections.
No problem, contact us and we'll get back to you as soon as we can!
About the products
We print our posters and wall maps on heavy 200 g/m2 uncoated premium paper with a matt finish without reflections. The off-white paper is certified age-resistant and free of acid and optical brighteners (OBA), so it won't yellow over time. This is one of the major differences between our prints and those of our competitors, who almost always use a paper with added optical brighteners. This makes the paper whiter, but it also causes the paper to yellow over time as the added whitener breaks down.
If you mount and hang your historic Allmogens print correctly, i.e. in a frame behind glass (preferably glass with a UV filter) and away from direct sunlight, you can expect the print to retain its beautiful colours for generations.
We work hard to ensure that ordinary, working people can decorate their homes with meaningful, historical motifs at no cost. Because we have our hands on the entire printing process and logistics, we can offer the same and often significantly higher quality printing and paper than some of our newer competitors, but often at half the price. That's the difference when you cut out the middleman.
Prices vary depending on the size of the poster/wall map. VAT is included in the price.
20 x 20 cm: 129 SEK
21 x 30 cm: 149 SEK
30 x 30 cm: 179 SEK

Yes we can! We're adding to our collections as fast as we can and with your help we can prioritise the right subjects and map areas. Contact us and tell us what you're looking for and we'll do our best to get it for you.
No.
Passepartout is not included with our historical prints. However, all our historical maps have a passepartout digitally integrated, i.e. they have a white margin around them that frames the maps in an ideal way. This white border can be wider on two sides of the motif because the old motif may have a different format than today's standard frame sizes. The white border has the following minimum dimensions for each print size:
21×30: 2 cm
30×40: 3 cm
40×50: 3 cm
50×70: 4 cm
70×100: 5 cm
100×140: 7 cm
Some of our motifs are up to 500 years old and often digitally scanned at high resolution. However, the advanced age and the technology used to create the subject means that they may naturally be more blurred and out of focus than you would expect from modern techniques. All our products have undergone our rigorous scrutiny and are of the highest quality. We have judged that the motif looks good for all sizes available for purchase. Cropping may differ slightly between the available sizes for optimum fit.
Order
If you have entered incorrect information on your order such as address, email or phone number etc., please contact us directly and we will see if we can change the information in time. If we have already shipped your order and the incorrect information affects delivery, you as the customer will be responsible for any costs incurred.
Unfortunately, we cannot make changes to your order after your purchase has been completed, nor can we add or remove products. However, as long as the order has not yet been dispatched, we can shred it and you can place a new order with the items you want. Contact us by clicking here.
If you want to cancel a purchase before your order has left us contact us immediately. However, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to prevent your delivery in time, as it may have already left us. If you wish to cancel a purchase that has already been dispatched from us, the conditions for returns apply.
You will receive an email with a tracking link as soon as your order leaves our warehouse. Keep an eye on your spam folder as sometimes emails can end up there by mistake.
If you haven't received a card after placing an order, it could mean that something went wrong with your purchase, or that you entered the wrong email address. Please check your spam folder as well so that the email is not stuck there. If you don't find anything there either, feel free to contact us and ask if we have an order registered for you, so we can check and if so, email you your order confirmation. Also, please contact us before placing a new order to avoid duplicate orders.
Order confirmation will be sent digitally to your specified e-mail address.
If your order is sent as a gift directly to the recipient and you want the delivery to be a surprise, we recommend that you use your own e-mail address at checkout. However, you will need to provide the recipient's mobile number so they can be reached by the shipping company's notification when the package can be picked up. If you want to send a personal message, contact us before you place your order and we'll take care of it.
Delivery
We can deliver to anywhere in the world!
Our delivery time is normally 2-7 working days from the order date, longer for orders outside Sweden. Allmogens is based in the countryside ofångermanland and travels to the big city to post orders at least once a week, sometimes twice. Please note that a delay of 1-2 days may occur in case of high pressure at the shipping company or at our premises.
If you buy for less than 399 SEK, a shipping fee of 39 / 49 SEK will be added depending on size and weight. For deliveries to other European countries and the world, there is also an additional charge for international shipping. If you order to a country outside Sweden, you as a customer are responsible for any customs duties and taxes that may arise.
Your order will be shipped by DHL, except in the case of small orders and you choose Postnord Varubrev or Postnord Hemleverans as shipping option. Historical prints in sizes 40×50 cm and upwards are sent rolled up in a heavy cardboard tube. Smaller prints are sent flat in a corrugated envelope.
As soon as your parcel reaches the delivery point, DHL or Postnord will send out a notification via SMS and/or email to the details you provided when ordering. You can also easily track your shipment yourself using the My Packages app from Unifaun.
For packages that are returned to us because you have not picked up the package, we charge 200 SEK. We do this to cover the double freight and our handling cost for packing. If you have paid in advance, 200 SEK will be deducted from the amount refunded to you.
If you have not received your order, we recommend that you double-check that you have provided us with the correct information. If you have, look up the tracking number you received in the email when your order was sent from us, or download the My Packages app from Unifaun. If your parcel doesn't show up there, or if you haven't received a tracking number, contact us and we will help you.
If you find that you have provided incorrect information when ordering, such as an incorrect address, email or phone number, please contact us and we will see if we can change the information in time. If the incorrect information affects the delivery of your order, you as the customer will be responsible for any additional shipping costs that may be incurred.

Returns / Complaints
You always have 365 days right of withdrawal when you buy goods on Allmogens.se, except on our almanac where 30 days right of withdrawal applies. This means that you have the right to cancel your purchase by notifying Allmogens within 365 days from the date you or your agent received the ordered goods (withdrawal period).
The right of withdrawal does not apply to personalised posters printed to order. When ordering goods for which the right of withdrawal does not apply, you will receive clear information about this. Companies do not have a right of withdrawal either.
The goods must be returned in the same condition as when they were delivered to you. Please note that all our historical prints are delivered sealed with a sticker over the tissue paper in which it is wrapped. Once the seal is broken, your right of withdrawal expires. Returns with broken or open seals are invalid.
We apply a full depreciation if the product is not in saleable new condition.
The return cost is 49 SEK and will be deducted from the credit of your repurchase.
If you wish to make a return, please email us at info@allmogens.se and state this together with your name, order number and the items you wish to return including their product name and quantity. We will then email you a digital return slip which you print out and tape to the parcel, which must then be handed in at any DHL Service Point within 14 days of the date you notified us of your return.
The return must be sent in the original packaging, and returned in the same condition as it was when it was delivered to you. We will apply a full depreciation if the product being returned has a broken seal and/or is not in saleable new condition.
If your delivery contains a damaged or faulty item, contact us immediately and we will help you. We will then replace the damaged / faulty product with a new one. In order to handle your complaint, we need the following information:
- Your email used for purchase
- order number
- customer name
- Article number
- Picture of the broken/defective item clearly showing the damage
- Picture of the package in which the goods were delivered
No, you do not have to return a damaged item. Our historic prints are recycled as paper. However, you must send us photos of the damaged item. Read more about how to return a broken item under the question "What do I do if an item is broken or faulty?".
If you have paid by card, the amount will be refunded to the same card. If you have chosen to pay by invoice through Klarna, we will extend the due date as far as possible to allow time for the return to reach us. Once we receive the return, you will receive an updated version of the invoice to your email with the remaining amount (e.g. other goods or the return cost). If you have already paid your invoice, you will receive an email from Klarna with the refund details.
If you have made a purchase under the promotion or discount code and then return any of the items, your order will be recalculated after your return has been received. If the promotion or discount requirement is not met, the discount will be deducted from your refund.
