This is an old and detailed map of Uppland, Västmanland and Södermanland produced in the late 17th century in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, by the cartographer Frederik de Wit (1630-1706).
In the 17th century the so-called The age of the Great Power in Sweden. The period is often considered to begin in 1611 with the Gustav II Adolf ascends the Swedish throne. It was only during this period that the counties of Skåne, Halland, Blekinge, Bohuslän, Gotland, Härjedalen and Jämtland became part of the Swedish kingdom.
