Carl Larsson's watercolour painting Grinden, probably from 1897, was one of 24 paintings in the book A home (1899), with which Carl Larsson wanted to show how to decorate his home well. The book begins with a text in which Larsson describes his family life in the cottage Lilla Hyttnäs in the village of Sundborn outside Falun. This is followed by 24 watercolour paintings depicting scenes from the house and the Larsson family's life.
Carl Larsson says this about the painting in A home:
So you peel through the horrible debris and smoking heaps of dung, across the neighbour's backyard, through my little green gate, where the hens, terrified, come out of their nap.
The original measured 43×32 cm. Depending on the size you choose, the cropping may be slightly different.
What is the difference between regular posters and our Fine Art prints?
The big difference between our fine art reproductions, or Giclée as it is also known, compared to posters is the quality of the print itself, both in terms of colour reproduction and age resistance. The size of the print run also differs. Posters are mass-produced, while our art reproductions are produced on a small scale using high quality pigment ink on a carefully selected, age-resistant and acid-free paper. The paper is also completely free of optical brighteners (OBA), so it does not yellow over time. Each fine art print undergoes a thorough check by the printer to ensure quality.
Something that is not significantly different? The price.

The gate1897 To be out and about between the farms meant many gates in summertime that were closed so that the cattle did not go out over to the neighbour!
