Claes Johan Ljungström was the son of a peasant who became a priest and an archaeologist. He had a great interest in cultural heritage and worked actively to protect and document ancient monuments. He was the one who prevented Hols kungshög in Tunhem from being removed, and also founded Västergötlands fornminnesförening in 1863.
